What is a wiki account?
The wiki is a website every user can edit. You can change pages where you
would like to insert things, you can change things others have posted or you
can comment on a page without changing it. You can read more about it and
its features by accessing the links at the top of this page.
What is the value of a wiki?
One value of a wiki is that it is a "working web site" that does not depend
upon a webmaster for updates and changes, rather a wiki empowers every
visitor to contribute information into a public space that others can view
and collaborate with. A wiki can be as dynamic and up-to-the-minute as
members want it to be. Another value is simultaneous, economical and
transparent communication with all officials of the Federation and
interested members. When any wiki member posts something or makes changes to
an existing page, all others are notified of the change so they can review
it if it interests them.
Already users on the wiki have gathered and posted information that is of
interest to other members and which we have previously been unsuccessful at
obtaining through any other means.
How is the wiki different than www.soobahkdo.com?
The Soo Bahk Do Site is a publicly viewable site that can only be modified
by the webmasters. The wiki is more like a "workroom" where information is
gathered, discussed, organized and perhaps planned for posting on
www.soobahkdo.com
Who is responsible for the wiki accounts?
Headquarters staff and some volunteer wiki administrators are responsible
for overseeing and activating wiki account requests.
Will my email address be kept private or sold for advertising dollars?
The Federation does not sell or distribute member email addresses.
Will I get a lot of junk email if I activate a wiki account?
As a wiki member you can set your email notification preferences to every 2
hours, daily, weekly or never. So, if you don't want to receive a lot of
email notices about wiki site changes, you may want to use a dedicated email
address for your wiki account or you can set your preferences to "never" and
then visit the wiki periodically to explore what has been updated.
