Participants will learn how to effectively integrate and apply classical Soo Bahk Do® techniques during free sparring. You will learn drills you can practice after leaving the seminar to continue improving your Soo Bahk Do® style free sparring for years to come. You will learn how distinctive Soo Bahk Do® techniques can easily be used to surprise your opponent and gain an advantage over them during free sparring. As we become more proficient in free sparring, we all learn how to "read" an opponent's techniques as they begin to execute them toward us during free sparring. We achieve this skill by becoming very familiar with the movements they are likely to execute and then "reading them" when they begin a move. In a split, almost unconscious second, we then prepare our defensive strategy and know which of our well-practiced movements will best counter their attacks. During free sparring, classical Soo Bahk Do® techniques can give you a tremendous edge over opponents who have not yet learned how to integrate them into their free sparring. Your execution of these techniques during free sparring can confuse, befuddle and intimidate an opponent in ways that give you a tremendous edge over your opponent. The Technical Advisory Committee has even approved additional point credits for practitioners who exhibit these techniques during National Sparring competition. Read the 2007 Summer/Fall Newsletter article about the extra points you can earn. Gain the skills you need to embody classical Soo Bahk Do® techniques in your free sparring repertoire of techniques and become even more effective in your free sparring. Train in this seminar today and get an edge up on making double the points in your sparring Saturday. |

Participants will gain enlightenment and understanding about engaging an opponent armed with a knife. What should you ALWAYS do first if confronted by a knife wielding opponent? Is it ok to strike first if confronted by a knife wielding opponent? When and how would you decide to strike first rather than wait for an attack? When the knife attack comes how do you prevent getting cut? How can you best assure bloodless knife defense? What to expect should you be cut. What if the knife attacker comes at you in an unorthodox or unanticipated manner? Is it better to advance, retreat or face the opponent or stand sideways when preparing to defend yourself? Learn tell-tale signals to look for in your opponent's actions that reveal their intent. You'll never think about knife defense the same again after this seminar.
