"Alumni membership provides the practitioner who is not currently training in a studio with the opportunity to continue expressing their loyalty to, and support of, the philosophy, principles and Moo Do values of Soo Bahk Do® Moo Duk Kwan® as expressed by Founder Hwang Kee while extending their support for the U.S. Federation to continue pursuing its chartered purposes and the long-term preservation of the art."
    Phil Duncan

Alumni Members of the U.S. Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation® may no longer be active in a certified dojang in the U.S. for various reasons, but have elected to continue expressing their loyalty and strong support of Soo Bahk Do® Moo Duk Kwan® , the philosophy of the art (Moo Do Chul Hahk) and Moo Do values that it promotes by maintaining their Federation membership.

Alumni Members of the Moo Duk Kwan includes anyone who ever achieved the rank of 1st Dan or higher and was legitimately certified by Founder Hwang Kee and is recorded in the Moo Duk Kwan records. Moo Duk Kwan Alumni may include practitioners whose study in Hwang Kee's Moo Duk Kwan martial art schools pre-dates the existence of the U.S. Federation. Upon returning to America from Korea many U.S. military personell who served during the Korean war never connected with the U.S. Federation after its formation in June 1976, yet many continued to value their training experience. Some even began teaching students in relative obscurity in the U.S. or other countries. Others chose different paths.
